HELP Ministries

For more than 25 years, HELP has provided emergency services to thousands of people each year. Emergency services include food referrals, emergency shelter, rent assistance, home heating fuel, PPL assistance, travel and prescription assistance, and clothing referrals. These services are provided in collaboration with many resources, including churches, foundations, government and private dollars.

Rental Assistance Program (RAP)
—HELP may assist households with delinquent rent payments or help people who need security deposits.  This program serves residents of Dauphin County and follows specific guidelines.
Case ManagementThrough a case manager, HELP assists clients in area shelters (those who are homeless or about to become homeless) by using a network of social services.
PPL Assistance—HELP administers PPL’s regional energy assistance program, Operation HELP, and provides direct services to those in Lower Dauphin County.
Emergency ShelterHELP attempts to find emergency shelter that may range from one day to four weeks.
Medication—HELP assists people with life-sustaining medication on an emergency, one-time basis.
Travel– HELP reserves this service for true emergencies.  A client’s situation is verified before travel arrangements are made.
Food—HELP provides vouchers to area food pantries listed in the Food Bank’s referral Book.
Fuel—HELP may provide one-time assistance to people needing fuel oil during the winter heating season.  Clients must exhaust any and all other energy assistance programs before they receive assistance.
Other Rental Assistance–HELP may assist residents of Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry Counties through funds from churches and United Way.
Information & Referral– HELP is a resource for information and referrals for helping services.

and 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.;
on Wednesdays
walk-in hours are from
9:00-11:00 a.m. only.
