What We Do

Compassion Action Network

CAN Ending

This communication is to formally announce that the Compassion Action Network (CAN) monthly Zoom calls will be discontinued. When the CAN initiative began several years ago by Christian Churches United (CCU), it was during a time when numerous individuals, ministries, agencies and other entities were providing various services to our homeless neighbors, including a duplication of efforts and services provided by some. However, not much was understood in many cases about all that was being done by the different parties supporting unsheltered individuals in the area. Therefore, in an attempt to bring individuals and entities together to promote collaboration and to increase communication on how we might better support our unsheltered, CAN was established.

Much progress was made through CAN in areas of collaboration and increased coordination of services being provided. However, it is now believed that with the great momentum, communication, provider meetings and overall work being done by the Capital Area Coalition on Homelessness (CACH), along with the collaborative efforts of its subcommittees made up of unsheltered services provider agencies, ministries and individuals, (which some CAN participants are part of), the need to continue with CAN is no longer warranted.
We sincerely appreciate all that have participated in CAN over the years, and we encourage anyone providing homeless services and supports that aren't already associated with CACH, to consider engaging in and becoming a part of its initiatives. To become a participant of CACH, you can send an email to the address below requesting to be added to its email distribution. You can also request information on its various subcommittees if interested. The CACH email addresses are:
