How To Help

Shower Kits

Shower Kits Needed
Help someone on the street with a warm shower

In addition to providing Welcome Home Kits to people leaving homelessness by getting their own apartment, we provide Shower Kits for those on the street. The idea was generated when we received a large donation of trial size toiletries. Volunteers put together small paper bags filled with trial size toiletries to assist people on the street with what they need to take a shower.

A Shower Kit includes trial sizes of:

  • Soap (or body wash)
  • Body lotion
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner (optional)

Our ministry partners at Market Square Presbyterian Church (MSPC) have a program distributing shower passes to people living on the street, so they can get a shower at the downtown Harrisburg YMCA. We provide these bags to MSPC and they give them out to folks receiving a shower pass. Everyone has been most grateful for the shower kit.

Care to help us make more?

  • Donate your left over travel size body soap, body lotion, shampoo, and conditioner (optional) and we’ll find volunteers to put kits together.
  • OR have you or your group put the bags together in small paper or ziploc bags. Decorating the bags, such as those pictured, is optional.
